Celebrate Movement and Creativity
Attune brings together artists from Japan and The United States for a two-day festival with dance performances and workshops, meditation experiences, and tours of Kameoka’s historical sites. The festival features classes and performances by Akifumi Mitsubayashi, Heidi S. Durning, Daya Tomiko, Kumiko Nonaka, Kyoko Fujimoto, Stacey Yvonne Claytor/Claytor Company, Sylvana Christopher/SylviDances, Emily Crews and Carrie Monger/Goose Money Productions, Karen Fox/Bella Deluxe Entertainment, Nick M Daniels/D.A.N.A. Movement Ensemble, and Malcolm Shute/Human Landscape Dance. Attune takes place Saturday June 20 through Sunday June 21, 2026, at the Shinpukuji Temple in Kameoka City 真福寺 亀岡市, Shimokubo-1 Sogabecho Nishijo, Kameoka, Kyoto 621-0028.

Saturday June 20
10:00-12:00 tours of Kameoka’s historical sites and zazen meditation experiences led by Akifumi Mitsubayashi
12:00-13:30pm Bharata Natyam workshop led by Daya Tomiko
14:00-16:00pm Broadway Jazz workshop led by Stacey Yvonne Claytor. Students who attend the Broadway Jazz workshop are invited to perform at 17:00.
17:00-18:15 Dance Performance by Daya Tomiko, Sylvana Christopher, Stacey Yvonne Claytor, Emily Crews and Carrie Monger, Karen Fox, Kyoko Fujimoto, and Malcolm Shute.
Sunday June 21
10:00-12:00 tours of Kameoka’s historical sites and zazen meditation experiences led by Akifumi Mitsubayashi
12:00-15:00 Contact Improvisation workshop led by Malcolm Shute. *Contact improvisation is a dance style in which students partner together, leaning against one another, and providing mutual support. Students should be 18 or older. Students who attend the Contact Improvisation workshop are invited to perform at 16:00.
16:00-17:15 Dance Performance by Heidi S. Durning and Kumiko Nonaka, Sylvana Christopher, Stacey Yvonne Claytor, Carrie Monger, Nick M Daniels, and Malcolm Shute.
Attune dance workshops are for adults with or without dance experience.
Admission to Attune performances and workshops is 1000 yen for each event. 2-day admission to all events is 5000 yen.
